Immunizations for the under-insured, information for all

Hennepin County provides low-cost child and adult immunizations (shots) to people who don't have adequate health insurance.  This service is offered at walk-in clinics in Bloomington, Brooklyn Center, Hopkins, and downtown Minneapolis.  Appointments are available in downtown Minneapolis.

The county also manages:

  • Baby Tracks to help parents make sure their babies receive appropriate and timely immunizations during the critical first two years of life.
  • ImmuLink as part of the Minnesota Immunization Information Connection (MIIC), the statewide registry of immunization records.
  • The Perinatal Hepatitis B Prevention program that supports pregnant women and new mothers affected by Hepatitis B in receiving appropriate medical care for their children and themselves. This includes Hepatitis B immunizations and testing to prevent infants and family from getting Hepatitis B.

Why it's wise to immunize:

Immunizing is the best way to prevent the spread of many infectious diseases - and protect lives.  Thanks to vaccines, diseases that once were common now are uncommon - diphtheria and polio are two good examples. Immunizations can also slow down, or even stop, some disease outbreaks before they become widespread - seasonal flu, for example.  Find out more about vaccines and vaccine-preventable diseases.

Making sure young children are immunized is especially important. A child who is not immunized is more susceptible to dangerous and sometimes deadly diseases than a child who is immunized.  If you are concerned about vaccine safety, find out more about childhood vaccines and their safety here.

Immunizations are important for people of all ages, especially for those with a health problem or lifestyles that raise the risk of getting certain diseases.  Find out more about your risk level and which vaccines are recommended for you.
